Alresford Watercress Beds

A circular walk from Alresford can encompass Old Alresford Pond (geese, ducks and gulls), the watercress beds which attract Water Pipit and migrant Green Sandpiper, river and country lanes.

Old Alresford Pond is private but there is a public viewing platform on the east side of the busy B3046 which has no footpath. The watercress beds are accessed by public footpath.

What birds can be seen here?

On average, we have seen around 40 species here, including Water Pipit, Red Kite, Great black-backed, Lesser black-backed and Black-headed Gulls, Grey Wagtail, Bullfinch, Yellowhammer and Golden Plover.
