Staines Moor & Reservoir, Stanwell

The edges of the reservoirs attract waders in autumn and winter and you may see dunlin and oystercatcher, and wigeon with their distinctive yellow head marking. In July you are likely to see large numbers of tufted duck followed in September by shoveler and possibly garganey. In the winter Slavonian grebe and great northern diver have been seen, great crested grebe are present all year round.
In late spring you may see swifts zipping about swooping upon insects on the wing. Rock pipit, wagtails and wheatear are around between March and October.
The site is open all year round, Ashford or Staines stations are about a 20 minute walk from the entrance and there is a cafe in the Tesco Extra in Ashford.
