Richmond Park (4 June 2025)

With a mixed weather forecast, only 5 members joined me for this morning’s walk. Quality not quantity we quipped and hoped the birds seen would be similarly so.

Well, it didn’t rain and we saw 46 species of birds, the best ones being 3 Little Owls, Hobby, Peregrine, various goslings and close views of Blackcaps. We covered Pembroke Lodge Gardens, Hawthorn Valley, Lower PP, Upper PP and Pond Slade. What was especially pleasing for me was the good number of Swifts, Swallows (near Bog Lodge) and raptors.

Quality and quantity, with no need to wear my new waterproof coat!
