Walk – Morning walk to Emsworthy Mire on Tuesday 6th October 2026

Devon Wildlife Trust’s Emsworthy Mire reserve can be a good place to spot early winter thrushes, and perhaps Ring Ouzels on migration. We will walk a circuit around the reserve, but beware that the path is uneven and can be boggy – wellies recommended.

Meet: at the Saddle Tor south car park (what3words ///lawfully.most.vitamins), on the B3387 past Haytor and Saddle Tor, but not well signposted) at 9.30 am.

Price: £2 for non-members, free for members of Exeter local group.

Walk difficulty: Moderate. Path can be muddy and rocky in places. It can be very cold at Emsworthy Mire at this time of year, so be prepaired and bring enough warm layers.

The nearest toilets are at the Nation Park Visitor Centre, Haytor.

Please bring binoculars with you if you have them, and appropriate weatherproof clothing and waterproof footwear.

A rainy day at Emsworthy Mire.
