Website Guide

This guide gives a brief introduction to the Exeter & District Local Group website. The layout of the website should be intuitive, but here are some quick tips for using this site.
The main information on the website may be accessed via ‘News & Blogs’.
- The ‘News’ section includes news items, announcements, our newsletters and (until a special ‘Events’ section is developed) future events.
- The ‘Blogs’ section is used for reports about group activities, including trip reports, and write-ups of indoor meetings and Zoom talks. We have also included a few posts containing useful links to other websites.
On both the ‘News’ page and the ‘Blogs’ page, you can use the buttons to select a specific category of posts (e.g., ‘Birdwatching walks’ or ‘Talk Reports’). On the blog, the talk reports go back a couple of years to early 2020, and trip reports go back to when outdoor meetings were resumed in April 2021. Please note that blog posts about past events are dated to when the events took place, rather than when each report was posted.
The home page highlights two featured events, for example, the next walk and next talk. There is also a button to go to the news items advertising all our events. The ‘Get involved’ section includes an invitation to attend our events and join the group, along with a copy of the ‘featured events’ block. We also include some suggestions for how to get more involved by volunteering to help us.
‘Local wild places’ includes descriptions of some of the best wildlife sites near Exeter. The ‘About us’ section contains general information about the group, and how to contact us.
