Burton Mere Wetlands is probably the RSPB’s premier reserve in the north of England and it’s our local reserve ! We are so lucky to have such a wonderful reserve on our doorstep. The RSPB has had a presence on the Dee Estuary for 40 years and the reserve at BMW is going from strength to strength. New breeding birds like Avocet, Cattle and Great Egret, Bittern and Bearded Tit are just the ‘icing on the cake’ of the huge success in increasing breeding numbers upon the reserve of ’endangered’ UK breeding birds such as Lapwing, Redshank and Snipe. Come and hear from Dan, who has been instrumental in the success of the reserve over the years, about the ’year at BMW’ and the plans for the future.
