About our nature talks and walks

About our nature talks

Everyone is welcome at our talks, which are held in North Tonbridge at St Philip’s Church, Salisbury Road, Tonbridge, TN10 4PA

Admission is £4.00 for RSPB members, £5.00 for non-members. Pay on the door, you don’t need to book.

The doors are open from 7.00 pm for a 7.30 pm start. The illustrated talks are normally in two parts, with refreshments available in the interval.

We have a good range of speakers, and it’s not just about birds, so why not give us a try?

About our nature walks

All are welcome on our nature walks and other outings. Our more experienced members are always happy to share their sightings and knowledge with new birders.

Booking is essential as places are limited and meeting points may change. Please provide contact information as occasionally there may be last-minute changes.

If you would like a lift, or can give a lift, please let the walk leader know with your rough location.

To book, and for details of meeting places and transport arrangements contact the walk leaders:

  • For Saturday walks: Geoff Shoebridge, g.shoebridge@btinternet.com, 01732 771464
  • For Thursday walks: Martin Ellis, rspb.tonbridge@gmail.com, 07749 799329
  • For the dawn chorus, nightjar walk, boat trips and coach trip: Lesley Ribbens, lar123@virginmedia.com, 07989 476652

Start time is 10am at the destination, and we aim to finish by 4 pm except where otherwise stated.

Remember to bring

  • membership cards (where necessary),
  • binoculars,
  • a packed lunch and
  • appropriate clothing for the weather conditions. Most of the time we’ll be outside so you may need full waterproofs. We move slowly, so if it’s cold you may need more layers than you would wear for a brisk walk.

For our regular nature walks we ask for a minimum donation of £2. The prices for special events are mentioned above.

You can pay by bank transfer …

  • sort code 30-90-79 (Lloyds Bank)
  • account name RSPB Tonbridge Local Group
  • account number 32874260
  • reference: trip, date (dd/mm) and number of people)

… or with cash on the day.

Parking charges may apply at nature reserves.
