Car trip to Coombes Valley RSPB reserve 2 June

There will be a car trip to the RSPB reserve at Coombes Valley near Leek on 2 June, meeting at 10am in front of the Visitor Centre (ST13 7EU). This is a hilly walk that will require good footwear (hiking or waterproof trek shoes), we start at the top, drop into the valley, circle through the woods before starting our climb back up to the Visitor Centre. There is a wide variety of woodland birds and raptors, particularly Pied Flycatchers and Redstarts, but they may not be calling at this time of year, so it will need all our eyes to seek them out. We would aim to be in the reserve for four hours, there are toilets in the Visitor Centre but there is no catering on site so please bring a packed lunch. The leader will be Colin Barnes, please contact him if you intend to join us (or if you can’t come at the last minute) Contact details: or text 07999317351
