Car Trip, 3 February 2024: Leighton Moss

The group had a very succesful trip to Leighton Moss RSPB reserve on Saturday 3 February. The weather was ideal, and 26 members and non-members came along.
We split into two groups, led by Robert and Colin and together we saw 57 species (and heard another 3, including a Bittern booming). The star birds was a Ring-necked Duck, an American visitor not easy to spot among the very similar Tufted Ducks, but there were splendid views of Marsh Harriers, a Great White Egret and 14 Snipe huddled together.
