There is a lot to see along the Mersey Valley between East Didsbury and Stockport.
A walk from Cheadle Bridge to central Stockport in spring in late April 2017 found 25 species:
Cormorant, Mallard, Goosander, Mandarin Duck, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Wood Pigeon, Kingfisher, Sand Martin, House Martin, Swallow, Grey Wagtail, Pied Wagtail, Wren, Robin, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Mistle Thrush, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Magpie, Carrion Crow, Goldfinch, Greenfinch.
The walk usually produces a good set of birds at any time of the year, there are often Dipper to be seen, and Buzzards and Kestrels are fairly frequent, even close to Stockport. Towards East Didsbury you are also likely to see Parakeets.
