Stanstead Innings

Trip report for visit to Stanstead Innings on 29th September

Eight members enjoyed a mornings walk around the lakes and along the paths beside the wooded areas.

On the lakes there were the usual wetland birds, with good numbers of Coot and Great Crested Grebes and Little Grebes. There were good numbers of Tufted Ducks and unusually good numbers of both male and female Pochards.

Along the paths a male Redstart, Chiff Chaffs, Blackcaps, Grey Wagtail, Tree Creepers and a House Martin were seen.

Looking up there were a few Red Kites, Buzzards and a Kestrel. Also a Kingfisher was seen twice flying close to the sides of the lakes.

The weather was good for the walk, and 41 species were seen.
