RSPB The Lodge Sandy

Trip report for visit to RSPB The Lodge in Sandy on Thursday 25th of January.

On a nice morning with only a few spots of rain 15 members met for a walk around this reserve.

On the feeders near the car park were Blue Tits, Great Tits, Goldfinches, Nuthatches, Coal Tits and a Marsh Tit.

On the walk around there was a small flock of Lesser Redpolls and a few Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Long Tailed Tits, Wrens calling, and a Green Woodpecker, Jay, Mistle Thrush and Song Thrush seen.

Flying above were a few Red Kites, Buzzards, Starlings, Herring Gulls and single Raven, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel.

The highlight was very close views of two Goldcrests, being only a few feet away from us.

A good walk with 36 species seen.
