Oughtonhead Common

Trip report for visit to Oughtonhead Common on Thursday 22nd of February.

8 members met expecting a lot of rain, and we were not disappointed.

Along the lanes there were the usual Blue Tits, Great Tits, Long Tailed Tits, Goldcrest, Wrens and Dunnocks.

Also a few Song Thrushes, Mistle Thrush, Redwings, Greenfinches, Goldfinches and Chaffinches were seen, and a Kingfisher heard from the stream.

Looking up a few Red kites, Heron and Raven were seen, together with 2 Buzzards heard over the woodland.

The highlight was very good views of 40+ Siskins feeding and calling in the Alder trees next to the stream.

A better than expected walk with 34 species seen.
