Trip report for visit to Minsmere on Sunday 19th of May.

There were 12 members who joined the Hitchin and Letchworth Group for a trip to this reserve in Suffolk.

On the scrape there were lots of nesting Avocets together with Barnacle Geese, Greylag Geese and Canada Geese all with a number of goslings. Also there were a few Black Tailed Godwits, Dunlin, Knot, Redshanks, Greenshanks, Turnstone and Common Sandpiper.

When walking next to the beach Little Terns, Common Terns, Sandwich Terns, Kittiwakes and the usual gulls were flying and calling above.

In the reedbeds, Sedge  Warblers and Reed Warblers were calling, and above the reeds a few Marsh Harriers and Hobby’s were seen.

A really good day with around 94 species seen by the whole group, with individuals seeing 60 plus.
