Lackford Lakes

On a cold but fine morning on Sunday 20th November five members enjoyed walking around this reserve.

From the comfortable hides overlooking the lakes there were good numbers of  Teal, Tufted Ducks, Shoveller, Gadwall, Wigeon plus Canada, Greylag and Egyptian Geese and also some Snipe, Lapwing and a Green Sandpiper.

Along the lanes a brief glimpse of a female Goshawk being chased by Crows, a Great Spotted Woodpecker and Green Woodpecker (heard),  and a large flock of Siskins with at least one Redpoll.

We placed some seed on the usual fallen log in the small wood, which again gave close views of Blue Tit, Great Tit, Coal Tit, Marsh Tit , Robin and Nuthatch for some photographs.

A really good day with over 50 species seen.
