Grafham Water

Trip report for visit to Grafham Water on Sunday 21st of January.

On a calm morning 5 members met for a walk around the south west side to visit a few hides before the expected storm came in.

Along the paths when looking up there were a few Red Kites, Buzzards, Sparrowhawks and a Kestrel flying overhead. Also some Fieldfares and Redwings flew quickly by.

Near the waters edge there were the usual Gulls which included a Great Black Backed Gull, Lesser Black Backed Gull, few Common Gulls and lots of Black Headed Gulls. The only waders seen were a few Redshanks and Lapwings.

On the water there were very high numbers of Coots and Teal, together with good numbers of Mallard, Tufted Ducks, Gadwall, Goldeneye and a few Pochard. Also a single Shelduck and close views of 6 Pintails.

A good morning with 44 species seen.
