Trip report for visit to Fowlmere on 27th October.

Six members met as the sun came out following the rain, and although waterproofs were put on they were thankfully not needed.

During the walk around the reserve Chaffinches, Linnets, Bullfinches, Song Thrush, Mistle Thrush, Goldfinches, Redwings and a Fieldfare was seen.

The reserve wardens kindly gave us some apples to hopefully see a Water Vole, but unfortunately they were too wary.

From the raised hide overlooking a pool a few Teal, Stonechats, Reed Buntings, Moorhens and lots of Black Headed Gulls were seen, plus a Red Kite and an elusive Water Rail being heard.

36 species was seen on the day, with one member seeing a fleeting view of a Roe deer moving away.
