Trip report for morning visit to Fowlmere on Thursday 23rd of November.

On a bright and sunny morning 12 members met for a walk around this RSPB reserve.

The morning had started well with 2 Corn Buntings and 4 Meadow Pipits seen on the wires before arriving in the reserve car park.

Walking around the reserve things were a little quiet to start, but then a number of Blue Tits, Great Tits, Long Tailed Tits, Coal Tits, Wrens and Goldcrests were seen as the walk progressed.

Later on a few Redwings, Goldfinches, Chaffinches, Green Woodpecker and Blackbirds were seen in the trees.

The highlight of the morning was from the raised hide where a Barn Owl was seen moving in a nest box which was placed half way up a tree.

Also a Roe Deer was seen crossing a field, and 4 Brown Trout were seen in the clear parts of the chalk stream.

A good morning with 26 species seen.
