Broom GP

Trip report for Broom GP on Thursday 28th September.

On a nice morning 12 members enjoyed a walk around the fields and a further member joined us near one of the lakes.

Above the fields were Swallows, Sand Martins, Skylarks, Meadow Pipits, Kestrel, Grey Wagtail, Pied Wagtail and Stock Doves. 

On the lakes were the usual water birds with Coots, Moorhens, Great Crested Grebes, Little Grebes together with a few Mallards, Tufted Ducks, Shoveller, Teal and a Heron. On the lake by the road there was 100’s of Greylag Geese.

The highlight of the morning was 4 juvenile Hobbies being chased by Rooks and Crows.

At the end of the walk a pub lunch was enjoyed in the Cock Inn.

A good walk with over 40 species seen.
