Tollesbury Wick – October 2026
A productive morning at Tollesbury Wick started with a walk up alongside the marina and a few Greenshanks, Redshank and Little Egrets were feeding between the boats and above we had a few skylarks moving through.
As we carried on along the sea wall there a good number of teal and Wigeon feeding in the creeks and further outs we had a number of waders further out which included a big numbers of Knot and Redshank along with a lone Spoonbill roosting and a big flock of Shelducks. Also out in the estuary there were a number of late terns which all seemed to be young sandwich terns hunting. further down the seawall this many flocks of waders were coming in as the tide was turning including Ringed Plovers, Dunlin, and many Curlew some of which were pushed down by a Marsh Harrier. At the top end with the tide really coming in now we had good views of Grey Plover and Turnstone on the spit just before we had super views as a glossy Ibis flew down the channel in front of us.
We then stopped for lunch with a good view of the Blackwater where we a nice view of Brent geese feeding and Closeup views of Ringed Plover and Grey plover before heading back.
