An area of water located between the beach and the residential area of Seaforth and bordered on the south side by the Docks Container Terminal and with open grassland to the north and east and sand dunes to the west.

The railway station at Seaforth and Litherland (on Merseyrail’s Southport to Hunts Cross Line) is close by and there is ample parking on nearby streets or at Crosby baths.

While there, why not stroll the promenade and/or beach and take in the Antony Gormley sculpture installation Another Place?

Not particularly known for its rarities, there is usually a good selection of shore birds, gulls and Mute swan – with the chance of grey wagtail in winter and wheatear during the spring migration.

Best time to visit:
Another area best visited in the winter or spring when there is less disturbance from leisure activities on the lake.
