8th Jan meet 09:30 at Parkgate & Burton Wetlands

CH64 6RL, Follow the B5135 to Parkgate. At sharp left-hand bend at shoreline turn right next to the Boathouse pub and drive down to car park at end of North Parade. Car park can get busy on Sundays particularly if there is a spring tide. Will remain until late morning then move on to RSPB Burton Mere so carry your national RSPB card. Level terrain, facilities locally.

19 Feb meet 1000. N. Wales coast from Llanfairfechan.

LL33 0BY The target area lies between Conwy and Bangor, a comfortable two hour drive. Meet in the sea front car park at Llanfairfechan off the A55 and expect to see a host of waders, gulls and the odd surprise. Handy facilities & catering in the car park.

26 Mar meet 09:30 at Connah”s Quay with Estelle Hughes.

CH6 5SJ First come, first served up to 12 places. Ring 01948 840902 to secure your place Take A483 to the A55 junction and turn left towards CQ. Follow road when it bends right on to CQ Road and Kesterton Lane then left on to B5129. Cross over A548 (flyover) Kesterton Road and follow to site entrance, small fee.

16 Apr meet 09:30 at RSPB Lake Vyrnwy Llanwddyn.

SY10 0LZ North of Llanfyllin turn left onto B4393 . Follow road and turn left to cross the dam. Turn left to car park.

7 May meet 09:30 at Woolston Eyes.

WA4 1PD First come, first served up to 12 places. Ring 07833 647109 to secure your place. From the south, cross the ship canal swing bridge (A50), take the right hand lane through Latchford and cross Kingsway South into Thelwell Lane. Meet at the first locked gate.

25 Jun meet 10:00 Anglesey, RSPB S. Stacks.

LL65 1YH Cross the Britannia Bridge to stay on A55 to Holyhead, following brown signs to meet at RSPB South Stacks Reserve, a mountain top area on the N.Wales. coast. Full facilities, café and shop. National RSPB membership card needed for free parking. Other sites/reserves may be visited if time allows.

16 Jul meet 09:30 at Burton Wetlands.

CH64 5SF Take A5 north. After the Two Miles crossroads at Chester bear right onto A494 signed to Queensferry, then left onto A540 and follow brown signs for the reserve on Puddington Lane.

20 Aug meet 09:30 at Upton Warren.

B61 7ER First come, first served up to 12 places. Ring 07833 647109 to secure your place. From junct 5 on M5. take A38 north. At roundabout with Webb’s garden centre on left, turn right down narrow lane to car park area. £3 permit fee but free to Wildlife Trust Members with membership card.

3 Sep meet 09:30 at Middleton Lakes.

B78 2BB Approach via M6 Toll, north of Birmingham. Take exit 2 on to A4091 then turn right on to Bodymoor Heath Road to the site in the Tame Valley. Facilities, some off-site.

29 Oct meet 10:00 at Leasowes & Burton Wetlands later.

CH46 4TA From junction 1 of M53 take A554 and then go left on to A551. In 2 miles go straight on when road bends left (public toilets here; no other facilities). Park on right in car park by lighthouse. Moving on to Burton Mere (facilities) later so bring national RSPB card.

26 Nov meet 10:00 at Marshside & Hesketh Outmarsh.

PR9 9NT Estelle Hughes 01948 840902 Take M6 north to jcn27 then A5209 to Parbold. Turn right on to B5246 through Rufford until T-junction. Go left on to A565 and then take 3rd exit from roundabout on to Marine Drive, Southport.

17 Dec meet 09:30 at Whitcliffe Common & Mortimer Forest.

SY8 2HB Meet in layby overlooking Ludlow on Whitcliffe Rd (the road to Wigmore), above Ludlow Castle. No facilities except in the town. We’ll then move on to Mortimer Forest just a short distance up the road.

Most venues are free to RSPB members but some sites require an additional permit which we will arrange and collect a contribution for shared among all who attend. Always choose suitable footwear and clothing. It is advisable to bring your own food and drink as we cannot guarantee catering will be available.
