SWIFTS Although only with us for just a few short months Swifts make quite an impression in that time, their crescent-shaped silhouettes and joyful screaming calls bringing our summer skies to life. Sadly, Swifts have declined by over 50% in the UK and are now on the red list of Birds of Conservation Concern. On 10 July, MPs debated making Swift bricks compulsory in new housing, but what they offered falls far short of what’s needed. If you are interested in helping Swifts please get in touch with Rosie Fitz-George who is organising a local Swift Action Group.       rosiefitzgeorge@gmail.com
