Nightjar walk at RSPB Farnham Heath – Wednesday 19/06/2024

An evening walk at this reserve to initially look for heathland birds such as Stonechat, Tree Pipit, Common Whitethroat, Woodlark and Dartford Warbler. With luck we may see Redstart or even Spotted Flycatcher.

As the light begins to fade, we will listen for the first churring Nightjars. Hopefully this will be followed with sightings of the birds flying over the heather in search of moths.

Mosquitos and midges can be a nuisance on heathland, so please come prepared by bringing insect repellant. It will also be dark before we leave the reserve (after 10.00 pm), so a torch will be useful to help you avoid tree roots whilst returning to the car park.

NB – Please remember the gate will be locked before setting off on our walk so we will all need to leave the reserve at the same time.

This meeting is free to join for RSPB North East Hants Local Group Members (booking essential).

Non Members of the group are welcome to attend for a suggested donation of £3.00 per person. Advance booking is essential. Please contact the Outdoor Meetings Organiser on 01276 29434.

We will be meeting at the Rural Life Centre, Reeds Road, Tilford, Surrey, GU10 2DL at 7.15 pm
