Annual General Meeting – Saturday 23/03/2024

Here’s your chance to hear the Group’s Committee Member’s reports on the events of the previous twelve months. An opportunity as well to join/renew both your Group Membership and 100 Club entries.

Remember, the more Members we have in the 100 Club, the better the prize/s and the more we can raise for RSPB.

As usual we will try to keep the business side of the evening as brief as possible.

The AGM will be followed by a talk entitled ‘Saving the Swift’ by Local Group Member Robert Brook. Robert developed a keen interest in helping Swifts after the Hampshire Ornithological Society’s AGM in 2019. Later, meeting a dedicated charity helping swifts in Hampshire, (Hampshire Swifts) he discovered these beautiful and charismatic birds have declined across both the county and the UK by approximately 65% over the past 25 years. They sadly continue to decline at approximately 5% per annum.

Come and learn about Swifts and how you can help them recover. Not just by providing nesting sites but by improving our gardens and local green spaces with plants that will encourage the insects that Swifts need to sustain their lives on the wing!

Non Members of the group are most welcome to attend. You can learn more about the group and meet fellow wildlife enthusiasts. A donation of £3.00 per person is welcomed, but if you join on the night this will be refunded.

The meeting starts at 7.30 pm and is being held at Memorial Hall, Sandy Lane, Church Crookham, Hants, GU52 8LD. Please arrive a few minutes before this so that proceedings can begin on time.

You will have an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets and check out our regular fundraising tables.

Teas & Coffees will be available during the interval, after which there will be a short talk.
