Feb 2023: From the Garden

Committee member Marion found this Alexandrine Parakeet in their back garden with 4 other Ring-necked Parakeets. Reported the sighting and it turns out a free flying one has not been seen in the East London/West Essex area for 10 years. At first Marion thought it was a Ring-necked Parakeet in breeding plumage, so very excited to hear it is a different species and a rare sight! It gets its name from Alexander the Great who brought them back from the Punjab. Thanks to Howard Vaughan for the ident and information.
