Knepp Estate Field Trip

On a very sunny and hot saturday 14 of us planned to complete two of the walks on the estate. The first venturing out to the old castle went well but bird sightings were in very short supply. A swallow was seen on some telephone wires, chaffinches and whitethroats sang from cover and a few blue and great tits put in the odd appearance. To the delight of the group a stork was seen flying past and so we set off for to view some in a nest only for me to get us totally lost. A lovely resident of the area told us where to go and sent us in the wrong direction and to everyones total amazement came and picked up some of the group and drove them back to her house and offered chilled water for the inconvenience caused. All I can say is what a lovelt lady she was. Eventually some of the group made its way near the nest and walked past a stork in the field (see photograph). A nice walk but little on show.
