After 2 long years, we are pleased to launch our 2022 events programme. Please find below our planned events for 2022.


Saturday June 18th 2022: Outdoor Meeting: Macclesfield Riverside Park Bird Race

Join the Wildlife Explorers Team for lots of fun spotting and recording the bird species that are found at Macclesfield Riverside Park in our season finale.

Following our session there’ll be lots of opportunities to learn about the other fascinating wildlife at the site as our Bird Race is part of the Beacon Bioblitz event supported by the Mersey Rivers Trust.

The Bioblitz runs from 10.00am to 2.00pm and includes pond dipping, environmental art, wildlife stands and children’s activities.

Birdrace time: 10.00am to 12.00pm
Bioblitz time: 10.00am to 2.00pm
Meeting point: Macclesfield Riverside Park Visitor Centre, Beechwood Mews, off Manchester Road, Tytherington, Macclesfield, SK10 2SL

Outdoor Meetings are free unless shown otherwise. Children must be accompanied by a parent or carer for the duration of the meeting.Please wear plenty of warm, waterproof clothing and footwear, with appropriate sun protection in the summer. Please leave your dog at home.

Thursday July 6th and Wednesday 12th July 2022: A Swift Walk from St. Michael’s

Two joint events with Swifts Over Macclesfield. An introduction to swifts and swift conservation covering the work being done locally to help these incredible birds. Followed by a short walk around Macclesfield town centre looking for swifts.

Find out how to identify these amazing summer migrants, learn about their lives and the conservation challenges they face and how we can all help to keep these iconic birds flying over Macclesfield.

An event in memory of our friend and colleague and great swift enthusiast Alan Brereton.

Time: 6.00pm to 7.30pm
