Birdwatching at Glynn

with Translink & BTO – 13th January 2024

Travelling by train to this birdwatching morning was especially memorable.

As a bonus, a few of us got to travel on to Larne and back as part of our homeward journey. A Kingfisher was spotted perched at the edge of the lagoon as we approached the Larne Town stop. We debated whether it might have been a piece of orange litter, but it had gone by the time we passed the spot again (so almost certainly a Kingfisher).

The Mute Swan (below), photographed at Glynn, was ringed as a juvenile in November 2022, see here for the story.
