Two new walk dates announced…

RSPB Kernow are visiting Porth Reservoir and Marazion Marsh

RSPB Kernow have two new dates for your diary:

Saturday 18th November @ Porth Reservoir, Newquay: Our Outdoor Events organiser, Sharyn Wallace has organised our first outing of the season to be spent at Porth Reservoir. This walk will be led by Sharyn, alongside our other committee member Lewis Cole, and will help in identification of some of our more common wintering wildfowl (but also the chance to identify some rarer varieties). We will take a circuitous route around the lake, following the nature trail and stopping off at the various hides. Uneven but mainly not arduous terrain. Parking available at reservoir entrance (What 3 Words: windmills.clouds.acids). Start time at 10am, finish by 2pm. Star Species: Pochard, Kingfisher, Goldeneye

Saturday 16th December @ Marazion Marsh near Penzance. Our first group visit to one of our two wonderful RSPB reserves in Kernow, and also home to the largest reedbed in Cornwall. We’ll start with an amble along the St Michaels Mount shoreline, before heading into the reserve and looking amongst the wetlands. With an early sunset, there may also be the opportunity to watch murmurating Starlings and then get some hot drinks at the café before we head off. Parking available at Folleyfield Long Stay Car Park TR17 0EP. What 3 words ///unopposed.toward.speedily. Start time 1pm, finish around 4.30pm. Star species: Starling, Brent Goose, Bittern (if we’re very lucky).
