Our Group's Activities

Indoor Meetings
Are held from September to April – on the second Thursday of each month.
Interesting and entertaining speakers give illustrated talks on their travels, birds and other wildlife.
Free refreshments are available during the evening, when it is possible to catch up on local bird news and buy raffle tickets to help
raise funds for the RSPB.

Field Meetings
We have a varied programme enjoying the birds and other wildlife in some of Suffolk’s diverse habitats from Ancient Woodland to recently created sanctuaries including walks along many of the county’s beautiful rivers and especially the important estuarine habitats of the Orwell, Stour, Deben, Alde and Blyth.

Our annual programme always includes a summer evening walk on one of the Sandling heaths, in search of birds such as Dartford Warbler and Woodlark and to listen for the haunting sounds of churring Nightjars on their arrival from Africa in the spring.

Monthly Midweek Walks
Around the town’s parks and local areas on Tuesday mornings.

Field Meetings and Midweek Walks are free, unless stated otherwise.

Please Note
Dogs are not permitted at events and children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times
