Outdoor Meeting to Loch Lomond Saturday 18th June

MEET – BALMAHA CARPARK at 10am, Boat fare £7.50 return

We shall walk down from the carpark to the marina where we will book onto the boat across to Inchcailloch. Time on island, approx. 2hrs. From the North Pier we will follow the low path to Port Bawn and return, investigating the flora and fauna. The more energetic can take a detour onto the Summit Path meeting back onto the Low Path near Port Bawn. This path will be steep in places.

We will hope to spot Redstart, Wood Warbler, Great spotted Woodpecker and Treecreeper as well as many more birds. Plants such as Wild garlic, Primrose, Wood sorrell and trees, Scots pine, Hazel, Alder and Oak are present.

Once back at Balmaha we will drive the cars along to Sallochy Wood, there we will have our packed lunch before taking a walk through the woods by the side of the loch. There is a circular walk if you wish to take which passes through the ruined 19th century farm steading of Wester Sallochy. The distance of this walk is 2miles (3.2kms), time given is 1hr 30mins.

Sallochy Wood will be where we end the day’s walks.
