Hobson’s Park is a relatively new park creating a green corridor that runs along Hobson Brook. The park includes some rough scrub, grasslands, a small lake with island and a couple of reeded ponds. Young trees and bushes and allotments and a small amount of reeds. A small viewing screen around the lake but with trees growing in front. Best to walk around to view the lake allowing views of the whole lake.
Corn Bunting, Lesser Whitethroat and Yellowhammer breed with good numbers of Eurasian Skylark. Winter is good for Common Pochard and winter thrushes. The reserve is best on passage where Northern Wheatearare regular in spring. Recent rarities have included Eurasian Wryneck, White Stork, Garganey, Arctic Tern and Short-eared Owl.
