Fen Drayton Lakes are adjacent to the River Great Ouse near St Ives between Huntingdon and Cambridge.

It is considered by many birdwatchers to be one of the best birdwatching sites in Cambridgeshire. Its wetland wildlife includes nationally important numbers of wintering ducks, breeding birds, dragonflies and otters.

Fen Drayton is easily accessed from the A14 via the signposted private roadway which leaves the minor road between the vilages of Fen Drayton and Swavesey.

A number of rights of way and trails cross the site, providing excellent opportunities for viewing the lakes.

The Cambridgeshire County Council guided busway provides access to the heart of the reserve.
