Big Garden Birdwatch 2024.

Friday 26th, Saturday 27th or Sunday 28th January 2024.

Watch for just one hour and help make a difference for wildlife.

Big Garden Birdwatch is the world’s largest garden wildlife survey. Every year hundreds of nature lovers take part, helping to build a picture of how garden birds are faring. Last year over half a million people looked out for their garden birds with us. We’re calling on people across the UK to spend an hour watching the birds in their garden or local green space and to tell us what they see.

For the last four decades, people watching out for their local garden birds has made the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch the largest garden wildlife citizen science project – reaching a large audience through advertising, media covering, repeat participants and frontline promotion.

Now in its 45th year, over 11.5 million hours have been spent counting 185 million birds, giving the RSPB an astonishing amount of insight into how our wildlife is faring. An easy, free and inclusive activity, its a hugely successful example of how we can work together to take action for nature.

Nature is in crisis. Together we can save it.
