Cowleaze Wood is a Forestry Commission property and is part of Aston Rowant Nature Reserve.

Woodland species including tits, woodpeckers, nuthatch, treecreeper,  tawny owl.  Possible wintering siskin,
redpoll and maybe crossbill.    In spring/summer look for warblers like blackcap and chiffchaff , also firecrest is possible in April\May.  Across the road at Linky Down it is worth a visit for passing ring ouzels in April.

Sometimes passage migrants like redstart stop off in late August and into September around the Linky Down side.

Directions –  Leave the M40 at Junction 5 and follow the A40 in the Oxford direction. Turn off  the A40 Oxford Road left at the Radio station mast,  just before the road continues down  Aston Hill.    Continue for 2 miles past the first nature reserve sign and over the motorway and the Cowleaze Wood car park is on the left.
